Samurai

This program has been designed for youth and adults (14 years to 50 plus) who want to learn the ancient Japanese martial art of Daito-Ryu Aikijujutsu (大東流 合気柔術). Daito-Ryu is a hand-to-hand combat art developed by the samurai (bushi) over one thousand years ago and passed down from generation to generation. This art is considered one of the oldest classical martial arts (koryu) in Japanese history and one of the most effective self-defense systems in the world.

This unique and comprehensive self-defense art will teach you blocks, strikes (including boxing skills), kicking, avoidance techniques, throws, pins, kata (prearranged movements), joint locks, Kobudo (tools used for defense), breakfalls, rolls and meditation. You will also learn the history of our art.

Students in the Samurai Program will have the opportunity to progress through our colour belt ranking system (white to black belt and beyond).
